Description

4 bedrooms – 2 bathrooms – bursting with original character – no near neighbours – excellent access – plot 7500m2, much of it flat and usable RESERVED

A quite unique, totally original cortijo, on its own in a beautiful plot in a river valley, bursting with rustic features and beautifully presented – 4 minutes drive to a small village with restaurants and 7 minutes to Comares, 40 mins to the coast.

Hidden away in a beautiful mountain valley, Finca Granado is a wonderful little treasure that has been lovingly cared for by its current owners who have made this ancient cortijo a homely and comfortable residence without altering any of the original features.

The house has good access, with only a dirt track driveway leading down to the house.  As one approaches, the house becomes visible amongst the trees and anyone who loves original Andalusian rustic architecture is guaranteed to instantly fall in love!

The drive leads to a very large parking area, ideal for several cars, camper vans etc., and all around are large areas of flat land with a fruit tree orchard with orange, lemon and other fruit trees that are irrigated using a drip feed irrigation system from the well.  The plot borders a pretty stream, and in the Spring, the sound of trickling water intermingles with the call of the nightingales, making this a spot that is all about nature and perfectly peaceful.

The house is on two floors, with a front and rear terrace to enjoy at different times of day, shade and sunshine.  The front door leads into a delightful country kitchen (5 x 4m) with high, sloping ceiling with beams and original cane (as there is in every room of the house).  To the left of the kitchen a door leads into a second room which is currently used as an inner hallway and utility room (4 x 4m) with steps at the far end that lead upstairs to bedroom 1 (4 x 4m) which has a window to the front and hot/cold air conditioning.  The utility room also leads on, to the beautiful living room, with an original fireplace at the far end with original shelving and an alcove set into the thick stone wall.  It also has double glass doors out to the rear patio with security gates.  This delightful room is 6 x 4m.  To the right of the living room, an ancient wooden door leads into bedroom 2, another beautiful room with beams and hot/cold air conditioning, and a window to the rear (4 x 3.5m).

Back in the kitchen, to the right, a door leads into bathroom 1, a beautiful rustic space currently installed with a sink and WC, but there is space to rearrange this room to add a shower unit at the higher end of the sloping ceiling, or maybe a standalone bath (3 x 2m).  This room has an opening to bedroom 3, a long thin room (5 x 2m) with a beautiful low wooden window with original wooden shutters.

At the far end of bedroom 3 is an opening to another room which could be used as a dressing room, reading room or a study (3 x 3.5m including a staircase leading down) and this room has a window that overlooks the kitchen.  Bedroom 3 also has a spiral staircase that leads down to a full bathroom (3 x 2m) with a shower unit, WC and sink. a window and a door leading outside.

Taking the steps down from the dressing room off bedroom 3, takes us to bedroom 4 (4 x 3m including stairs) and a second living room with an original fireplace (3 x 3m).  This room has a door to the rear and a lower patio.  It might be possible to make this section of the house an independent living unit.

Outside, to the rear, are simple gardens and a covered terrace, and just beyond, the owners have converted the old irrigation water deposit into a little pool, ideal for cooling off on hot summer afternoons.

The current owners have carried out considerable improvements on the original house, including a new gas boiler, new bathrooms, a new moulded pool and pump, air conditioning in 2 bedrooms and fittings and furniture that is perfect for this property, and part of the furniture is included in the price.

This dream cortijo has excellent land for planting and would work well for anyone who wished to keep a few animals and grow vegetables and fruit.  It has mains electricity, mains water and well water for irrigation. Internet is also connected.
