Description

9 bedrooms – 4 bathrooms – spread over 4 cottages – gardens – picturesque hamlet location – around 350m2 of buildings on a plot of 768m2

A beautiful country house with rear separate cottage, side cottage and small casita, plus a beautiful bodega, offering potential as a rural rental complex.  Quiet location in a sleepy hamlet around 15 minutes from Casabermeja and within 40 minutes of Malaga and the airport.

This very different little complex is like a mini village within a village!  The pretty street leads down to the four cottages, each with terraces and garden areas, and two with their own entrances for vehicles.

The complex is part of a tiny hamlet, or group of country houses, in the countryside not far from Casabermeja, and within 35 minutes of Malaga.

The four cottages are all attached by at least one wall, except for the stone cottage.  Here is a description of each, making up the complex:

The Casita – 1 bed, 1 bath
As we walk down the street, we first reach the ‘Casita’.  This is a 1 bedroom unit on ground floor level, consisting of a covered terrace, with door leading inside to a kitchen/living room area (4 x 3m), door to the left to the bedroom (3 x 2m), with one bathroom beyond (2 x 2m).  The flooring may need replacement of a few tiles or new tiles, but the rest is in good condition and rustic and charming. Next to the Casita is a large, walled courtyard which could be offered with the Casita and/or the Stone Cottage.  This might be the ideal place to install a pool.

The Stone Cottage – 2 beds, 1 bath
In front of the ‘Casita’, on the other side of the street, is the pretty stone cottage, beautifully decorate with stonework and white plaster on the outside.  The front door leads into a rustic style country kitchen/dining room (4 x 4m) with a corner open fireplace, making it cosy in the winter.  Next door is a room currently furnished as a bedroom, but perhaps better used as a living room(5 x 4m).  Stairs lead up to a landing with two large bedrooms to left and right (4 x 3m each) and a large bathroom (3 x 2m) in between the two.  Rustic character throughout, and in very good condition.

In front of the Stone Cottage is a gate and a couple of steps leading to the Main house and main terrace, plus the Bodega, Rear house, rear garage/workshop, and gardens.

The Main House – 3/4 bedrooms, 1 bathroom
The gated entrance from the little street leads onto the main terrace, which is part covered, with many flowering and potted plants.  This delightful space is the perfect place to relax in, eat outside and enjoy the shade in the summer.

The front door of the main house is directly from this terrace area, leading into a country style kitchen/dining room (5 x 3m).  From here, a corridor leads past the downstairs bedroom to the right (3 x 3m), with a deep cupboard under the stairs to the left (3 x 1m), and at the far end of the corridor is a door leading out to the fig tree patio.  To the far end also, on the left is the bathroom (2 x 2m), and the stairs.

The stairs lead up to a landing, (around 15m2) which wraps itself around the stairwell and could, if needed, be used as an extra bedroom, or perhaps converted into an additional bathroom.  There are two large bedrooms on this level, (5 x 3m and 4 x 3m) with plenty of space and rustic character, beams, and beautiful country ‘cortijo’ style wooden windows with shutters.

The rear fig tree patio is so named as it has a fascinating, ancient fig tree offering wonderful natural shade.  This patio is joined to the walled courtyard by the Castita and Stone Cottage, but separated by cane partitioning, which could be removed.  The patio also leads to one of two private driveways with gated entrance, and to a covered garage/workshop area.

The Bodega, upper terrace and gardens
Back at the terrace to the front of the main house, is access to the beautiful Bodega.  On two floors this consists of a delightful room (4 x 3m including stairwell) currently decorated with hats and caps, which has steps to one side leading down to the cool, dark bodega below (4 x 3m including stairwell).  If anyone were to be purchasing this to convert it into a tourist complex, this building might perhaps with a mini shop or bar.

Above the Bodega is a lookout terrace, with steps, overlooking the countryside.  There is also sight here of the amazing engineering of the rather elegant bridges of the A45 road, which is at sufficient distance not to be a nuisance of any kind.

From this area is access to the gardens, with vegetable plot and a barbecue that incorporates some of the original millstones from when these buildings were part of a mill.  Also from here a path leads to the patio and second gated vehicle entrance drive, and the Rear Cottage.

The Rear Cottage
As said, with its own entrance drive and patio garden area, the Rear Cottage is a spacious additional acccommodation unit, completing this fascinating complex. The front door leads into a very large living room (5 x 4m) with a bathroom to the far left (2 x 2m).  A couple of steps lead down to a large, country style kitchen/dining room (5 x 3m) with an open fireplace at one end.

Stairs lead up to the upper level landing, with a second bathroom (3 x 2m), and two very large bedrooms, (4 x 3m and 6.5 x 4m), one with wooden flooring.

This fascinating complex would make a unique, charming mini ‘village’ experience for paying guests.  The many patios and terraces and the gardens are already beautiful, but could be even more beautiful in the hands of the right people.  A little imagination goes a long was in this lovely property.  The buildings offer comfortable and authentic accommodation and could be improved in many ways according to requirements and taste.

The property has around 350m2 of buildings (more accurate measurements required) and is on a plot of around 770m2.
