A beautiful, romantic, very well renovated country cottage with a pretty terrace, all on one level, in a country area between Riogordo and Benamargosa, but within a short walk of a bar/restaurante.

Casa Los Burritos (or little donkeys) is so called as many years ago, the locals used to house their donkeys in the property, today a beautiful, comfortable and simple little hideaway.  It is ideal as a place to escape to,  and even to rent to tourists, given its perfect location in a totally authentic setting of a cluster of little country houses with beautiful countryside all around. There are plenty of tracks providing excellent walks all around the area, for those seeking fresh country air, sunshine and exercise to calm the spirit and soul!  It is also a very low maintenance property and a perfect lock-up-and-leave.  The council tax is only 85 Euros per year and with solar hot water, the electics are also very reasonable, making it a very economical home.

A little country lane (concrete) leads past a line of houses, one of which is this little treasure.  A garden gate leads into the open patio area, a lovely place to sit and enjoy the sunshine, snooze in the afternoon, entertain friends and enjoy outside dining (around 10m2).  A door to one side leads into a very useful store room of around 3.5m2 with a window.

The front doors (double doors) lead into the living room, (10.4m2) which is light and bright with an alcove with beams in the thick, original wall, and a wall mounted panel heater. From here an opening to the left leads into the kitchen/dining room with a fully fitted kitchen with built-in oven and microwave (11m2).  To the left of the kitchen is a door to a small balcony area, bringing in extra light to this lovely room.  The kitchen also has a wall mounted heating panel. To one side of the kitchen/dining room is the bathroom, beautifully fitted with a comfortable walk-in shower and a window over the patio.

From the kitchen/dining room, to the right, is an opening (and two shallow stone steps) through thick walls with original beam supports to an inner living room/office/study with the two bedrooms to either side, making three rooms of around 3 x 3m each.   The bedrooms are separated from the middle room by partition walls, which could be moved, depending on individual requirements.

There are reminders here and there of the original building, such as beams in the walls and arches and thick walls.  The house has been very well restored, including the roof, and has new electrics and plumbing.  There is also a filter tap in the kitchen for pure drinking water and a decalcifier/water softener.

This simple, comfortable house is ideal for anyone wanting to enjoy the clean, country air and atmosphere without the bother of having to look after any land.  A perfect holiday and weekend escape.
