A spacious country house, all on one level, on a wonderful plot of flat land, with plenty of potential for many options and close to the village and the coast.

Located just 1.5Kms from the lovely village of Algarrobo and under 10 minutes from the coast, Casa El Ancladero is a spacious and unusual property, offering potential not only as a family home or for rental to tourism, but also as a lifestyle, as the lovely, flat grounds, with many trees and beautiful sea views, contain two spacious wooden chalets, registered as guest accommodation, with their own covered terrace areas, and set conveniently away from the main house.  This gives potential to let these units to guests, simply to offer accommodation, or for activity holidays such as yoga, recuperation from illness, teaching holidays, etc. The chalets need some repairs and updating.

The location:
Situated just above the coast and just outside the village, the location is convenient and access is excellent.  Its elevated position offers a panoramic view of the sea and countryside.  This is a very rural area and there are fruit orchards and vegetable growing farms around, but this adds to the charm and reality of this lovely area.  It is peaceful and quiet, and the house has the very best orientation for this part of the world: South-South East, allowing sunshine from dawn to dusk, but less of the intense heat of the sun as it sets in the West in the summertime.  There are other neighbouring houses around, but the location is very private.

The house and pool terrace:
A gated entrance leads up a private driveway to a parking area to the West side of the house, and behind, on the north side too, with parking for at least 4 or 5 vehicles.  The main house and pool are located on this level, elevated above the flat garden area, separating it perfectly from the lower grounds.   To the front of the house, facing the pool is a covered terrace (around 2 x 10m) with arches, tile and pull-down awnings.  The centre of this unusual house is taken up by an internal patio courtyard of around 5 x 4m, with windows all around, bringing in plenty of light from the centre of the house, as well as from the exterior windows of the house.  Two doors, from the two opposite ends of the internal patio give access to its excellent space, used currently as a dining area.  It could also be turned into an internal courtyard garden, with potted flowering plants, perhaps even a palm tree in the centre.

The house is laid out around the central patio, with a large living room (8 x 4.5m) with corner fireplace and plenty of windows, a spacious, fully fitted kitchen (4 x 3m) with an arched opening to the living room, and a useful utility room (3 x 2.5m).   There are two good sized guest bedrooms (5 x 3m and 4 x 3m), a guest bathroom (3 x 2m), and a master bedroom (5 x 4m) with an ensuite bathroom (2 x 2m), plus a separate WC (2 x 1m).  Beyond the utility room, to the rear side, are two additional rooms, currently used for storage.   The first, (around 6 x 3m) is made up mainly of glass panelling, with large double entrance doors, and would make a perfect rear conservatory or even an ‘orangery’.  Beyond is the large second store room (also around 6 x 3m), which also has access to an underground water deposit for extra water.  This room could be used as a workshop, studio or even an indoor yoga area and gym.

To the front of the house is an open, spacious terrace with an in-ground pool of 8 x 4m plus rounded steps, all overlooking the magnificent sea view.  To the East side of the terrace is an additional store room and a covered area ideal for barbecues.

The property has its own water from a plentiful private well, plus irrigation water for the garden, electricity and own septic tank.  All rooms except the kitchen have hot/cold air conditioning and ceiling fans.

The grounds and the chalets:
From the terrace, steps lead down to the grounds on the lower level, which are on flat land, laid to natural grass which grows in the springtime and dies down in the summer naturally.  The whole area is planted with mature trees of many types, including many fruit trees and decorative trees.  It is a delight to wander through the grounds, enjoying the peace, the views and the space.  Set to one side are the two wooden chalets, accessed via a beautiful walkway lined with citrus fruit trees.  Each chalt offers a guest ‘studio’ or large bedroom with a covered terrace.  Both need some updating/repairing and one of them needs renovation, but as they are registered buildings, it is well worth updating and maintaining them.  At present there is a shared bathroom accessed from outside (currently out of action).  It would be easy to incorporate private bathrooms into each chalet.

This delightful property needs just a little bit of care, such as a repaint of the house, some tidying up of the grounds and updating the chalets, but none of it represents spending too much extra budget.  The property has the potential to create an income for those looking to live and work here, maybe as a yoga retreat or similar, but would work equally well as a permanent home or a holiday home.
