A beautiful, ‘Gaudi-esque’, rustic cortijo set in glorious countryside in the hills above the village of Triana and below Los Romanes village and Lake Viñuela.
Location:
This country area is very natural and beautiful, with sweeping views and plenty of walking routes and tracks. There are a number of ancient buildings, most of which have been renovated, scattered around these hills, although Cortijo El Parrón has no immediate neighbours. The location is around 15 minutes North of the village of Triana and 10 minutes from the village of Los Romanes and Lake Viñuela. Most of the access route is a concrete country lane, although there is around 950m2 of dirt track (3 minutes in the car) to reach the house itself. The coast is a 25 minute drive.
The land
The estate consists of 2,791m2 of land, on a hillside, although most of the plot is very useable and much is left to nature. For any garden enthusiast, there is plenty of space to create a beautiful Mediterranean garden, grow vegetables, or fruit trees. At the very top of the plot is the detached garage 33m2, and from here an access track leads down to the house, with various parking places by the side of the track.
The house
This very unsusual house, with its unusual curves and shapes reminiscent of Gaudí, is spacious and rustic in style with a total built size of 292m2 on two floors. There are several entrances to the property from outside, allowing independent access to both the ground floor and the upper floor.
The front door leads into a large and impressive hallway (5 x 3.5m), instantly giving one a sense of the excellent space in this impressive house. To the left, an opening leads into the large stairwell, and there is also a door leading into two store rooms (2 x 4m and 2 x 1m). And ahead is a doorway into the open plan living space of the house. This consists of a huge kitchen/dining area, to the left and the living room to the right, with a pellet stove that heats the entire area, and large wooden double doors opening out onto the dining terrace outside (total size of this open plan area is around 9.5 x 4.5m). Beyond the living room is a door to a second, more cosy living room area, (5 x 4.5m), where there is the ideal place for an open fireplace if required. From the kitchen, a door leads into the ground floor bedroom (4 x 3m) with an ensuite bathroom (2.2 x 1.5m) with a bath and overhead shower. There is a store room currently accessed both from inside and from a door from the garden, which is around 14m2, although if the rock were to be dug out it could be increased to around 5 x 6m.
Returning to the hallway, to the left of the door we walk into a large stairwell/atrium, in rustic style, with a row of high windows bringing in natural daylight and a flight of stairs leading to the upper level. There is also a door to a downstairs WC here, in addition to under-stairs storage.
Taking the stairs, double doors at the top lead to a short corridor, and immediately to the left is a door leading outside to both a path to the garden and a path to the parking area, allowing outside access directly from this upper level. On this level there are four very good sized bedrooms, and two bathrooms. Bedroom 1, to the right of the corridor, is an ample 5.5 x 5m with double doors out to a terrace of 11 x 5m, shared with one of the other rooms. This room could also be used as a communal living area. Bedroom 1 also has an ensuite bathroom of 2 x 2m. Bedroom 2 is to the left of the corridor, is 4.8 x 4.5m and has double doors out to its own terrace, and steps leading down to the paths to the garden and parking area. Bedroom 3, at the end of the corridor is 5 x 4m with a ceiling fan, and on the opposite side of the corridor is a bathroom (2 x 2m). And finally, bedroom 4 is 5 x 3.5m. All are large enough to add extra bathrooms should any buyer be considering using this property as a b&b or retreat.
Outside, on ground floor level, is a vast terrace in an L-shape, following the shape of the house, with covered areas with a large outdoor dining table, and beautiful flowering plants that frame the magnificent country and mountain views. Across from the patio terraces is a pretty dip-pool/cold-water jacuzzi and beyond, the main pool in an interesting shape and with its wonderful views beyond. That gardens include areas of trees and flowering plants, leading across to the rest of the land, which rises up the slope.
This magnificent house has mains electricity, but generates its own electricity using six 545w photovoltaic solar panels, dramatically reducing the electric bills. It also benefits from mains water.
This property can be used as a permanent family home, holiday home, or potentially as a yoga retreat or other such retreat, or even a country B&B.
A truly unique country property, on its own, with plenty of potential and adaptablility to the needs of any new owner.
