A lovely little, rustic style village house with parking right outside the door – light renovation required.
Located at the bottom of the village, this lovely house, dating from 1935, needs a little renovation to bring it up to date, preserving all its original character. In front of the house is a large patio area that is part of the public street, but really only used by the owners of this particular property, with access to one other neighbour, a house that has been empty and abandoned for many years. The outside area, whilst public, could be made beautiful, with potted plants and outside furntiure, and is a useful area to park a car right outside the house. There is also easy parking just a few paces away from the property.
The front door leads into the living room, with many original features including beams and cane ceilings. A woodburner or pellet stove could easily be installed into this room to make it cosy and homely in the winter. Next door, through a partition wall which could be removed, is the kitchen, currently installed with a very old fashioned kitchen that needs replacing. And beyond is a door to an internal patio. This area currently has a WC and laundry room built into it. However, this could be removed to open up the patio area and convert it into a beautiful feature of the house.
Stairs lead up to the bedroom, with a balcony overlooking county views, and with a door to the bathroom beyond. The bathroom currently doesn’t have a window but there is plenty of space to add one, as well as adding an extra window in the bedroom.
Renovation work:
The sturdy stone walls have a layer of old plaster which needs chipping back and re-rendering. I might be possible to expose some of the lovely original stone. The ceiling in the living room, over the bedroom, has one or two beams that might need replacing, although the upstairs floor is sturdy. The house could benefit from a new kitchen and an updated bathroom. The roof is in good condition, but might need an inspection.
This lovely house would make an ideal holiday cottage or even a permanent home for anyone only needing one bedroom.
The village of Almachar has a good selection of shops, bars, restaurants and facilities and is a friendly and lively, very Spanish town. It i within 30 minutes of the beach at Torre del Mar.
