Description

2 bedrooms – space for bathroom – 8862m2 plot – remote and beautiful-off grid living

A small, 2 bedroom cortijo, (around 50m2) set in a remote location, unspoilt by any sign of human civilisation, surrounded entirely by nature – 20 minutes drive from Jayena village.

Casa La Meseta is ideal for anyone looking to be away from humanity, away from noise or any sign or sound of human activity!  This is somewhere for an adventurous person, couple or family looking for a simple life, perhaps leaning towards a self sufficient lifestyle.  Here there is no light pollution and the stars at night are, the owners tell us, like in no other place.  Nature abounds, with deer seen regularly, early in the morning, making their way down the hillside, grazing on the grass, and the bountiful meadows of flowers in the springtime.  There are also wild boar, wild mountain goats, rabbits and hares, and a huge variety of birds, including magnificent eagles.

The track that leads to the house starts not far from the friendly village of Jayena, crossing the spectacular countryside, with breathtaking views, for 4.4Kms.  The track is only passable in a 4×4, due to its natural, rocky state.

Upon arrival, there is plenty of space for several vehicles, including farm vehicles.  The house itself is on a flat area of perhaps around 1000m2 and the rest of the land slopes gently down the hill to the front, and more steeply to the back into a wooded landscape.  One is immediately overwhelmed by the impressive, open view of the countryside and mountains.  And if one climbs up to the top of the hill, way above the house, to the top of the ‘meseta’, one can see the sea to the south in the distance.

The house itself was built as a ‘casa de rapero’ but has existed as a house for over 6 years, meaning that it can be declared as what it truly is, a residential dwelling.  The front door leads into a spacious living area, including a basic kitchen, dining, and living area, with high ceilings.  To the right are two bedrooms (each around 3 x 2m).  hese could be knocked into one single bedroom if preferred.  To the rear of the house, a roofed store room of around 3 x 2m, couild be converted into a bathroom, and made accessible from the inside by knocking through the rear wall into the living room.  A new, regulation septic tank can be installed too, very easily.  To the rear of the building there is also a covered area used to shelter animals.  There is a little cluster of open animal outbuildings near the house.

The building has electricity via 12 solar panels on the roof (costing the owners 17,000 Euros) which provide electricity.  Fast speed internet is possible via satelite systems such as Starlink or similar providers for a very reasonable rate.  Water can be brought up by tractor, but it would be possible to drill a well and store water easily on site.  The current owners have already had a water expert on site who has confirmed there is plenty of underground water for both domestic use and for irrigation purposes.

This very special property is an opportunity to embrace a new lifestyle in the wild!
