Description
4 bedrooms – 1 bathroom – pool – 13,727m2 land with productive mango farm – sea views – hilly location
A mango farm in production, with a house of 119m2 on one level plus an in-ground pool of around 15m2, with beautiful sea views, on its own and very peaceful.
If you are maybe looking to move to Southern Spain to set up a business here, using the mango farm, or whether you just wish to enjoy a truly rural property on its own with no neighbours and total peace, Casa Adelfas is one to consider.
Located on a rural hillside with beautiful views of the valley below and the Mediterranean Sea sparkling in the background, this lovely house needs just a small amount of redecorating and minor repairs to make it a beautiful, comfortable holiday villa or permanent home. If mango farming is not your thing, there is a local farmer who will look after it and split the income. If you want to try your hand at it, it brings in a modest but well-earned income!
There is a part-tarmac and part-dirt track to reach the gates, which are shared with one other neighbour, and then a steep and rough track leads down the hillside to the property, which has its own gates and fencing. The drive leads past a parking area for farm equipment with a rough cover to protect against the sun, and several large water tanks to hold water for irrigation. Then it continues down a little way more to the house, where there is also space for parking. The house is on one flat area, with flowering plants and plenty of colourful ‘adelfas’ or ‘oleanders’ bordering the garden area. The house sits alongside the pool (5 x 3m approx) with a large covered and arched terrace area (around 30m2), ideal for enjoying the outdoors, with a view of a number of whitewashed villages perched on the hillsides, and always with the blue stripe of the sea on the distant horizon.
The house. From the terrace, a door leads into the open plan living/dining room and kitchen. This area is around 10 x 4m and has a corner woodburner fireplace at one end and a fully fitted kitchen at the other. Centrally, to the rear wall, an opening leads to a short corridor with 4 bedrooms (2 on each side), all of a similar size, around 3 x 4m, and a bathroom at the far end. The bathroom is not very large and ideally, it would be logical to join two of the bedrooms together by removing the partition wall and creating a second bathroom, ensuite to the main bedroom. This would turn the house into a comfortable 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom house.
The farm. The land is completely planted with maturing mango trees, some 1800 trees, on an irrigation system. Production varies from year to year, with 2024 being a better year due to more natural rainfall and 2025 looking to be an excellent year. In a good year the trees can produce around 16,000 Kgs of fruit. There are 4 boreholes on site providing water to the two large water tanks, which hold 65,000L and 16,000L respectively. These tanks can be hidden from view or even updated and replaced or an underground water deposit could be built. It is possible to replace some or all of the trees for any other type of crop that is likely to grow here, including aloe vera, vineyards, figs, etc. There are also a number of orange and lemon trees for home consumption.
This lovely property is an opportunity to a lifestyle change, should anyone be looking for this. Or just a lovely, authentic Spanish villa in the hills. It is only around 25 minutes from the coast, 20 minutes from the ancient town of Velez-Malaga and within 15 to 20 minutes of several other villages. It is also close to the well known Buddhist centre.
