Description
2 bedrooms – 1 bathroom – large barn adjoining to convert – on a level plot of 58,065m2 planted with productive almond trees (farm yourself or contract a local farmer) – ideal for a more self sufficient lifestyle
A rustic style cortijo farmhouse with an original barn adjoining it, that could be converted or used as a workshop/studio, on a beautiful and extensive plot of fertile ground – just 6 minutes’ drive from Colmenar
Casa Pedregal is located in its own, beautiful plot of almond trees, offering peace, nature and fresh, mountain air, within a short drive of Colmenar town and with very easy access. It is close to Antequera (35 minutes) and 30 minutes to Malaga city and the coast. Also nearby are beautiful mountain walking trails such as the Peña Negra and Sierra de Camarolos walks. All around are the views of the rocky mountains and countryside and even a very distant glimpse of the sea.
A lovely road leads through the trees to the gates of the property, where there is an extensive, completely flat area to park many cars. There is also a huge ‘era’, an ancient, stone built threshing area where wheat was once beaten to release the corn. The house, sitting well within the plot, is surrounded by the almond trees, which in late January burst into bloom, looking more like snow than flowers, followed by the verdant green of the leaves in the Spring and Summer. The almond farm produces around 15,000Kgs per year. It is possible to look after the farm directly, although the current owners use a local farmer. The land is extremely fertile and produces beautiful vegetables, and so would be ideal for anyone wishing to try a more self sufficient life – indeed the balance of accessibility, stunning countryside, natural surroundings and fertile land makes this not only an ideal place for this type of lifestyle, but a practical one too. There is farming equipment available for purchase too.
There is no pool but a jacuzzi or an above ground pool would be possible. Click here to be inspired!
The house is all on one level, with a pergola terrace to the front (South facing) of 23m2. From here, the front door leads into an open plan living area (34.4m2) which incorporates the living room with wood burner, dining area and the fully fitted kitchen, beautifully restored, respecting many aspects of the original building. A central opening in the rear wall leads to the two bedrooms on either side (12.4m2 and 10.15m2) and the bathroom in between the two (5.65m2).
Next door, and adjoining one side of the house, is the barn, a beautiful space of 48.3m2 with gabled roof and original beams. This area could be added to the house (to create extra bedrooms, or for guest accommodation), and indeed, there are two blocked-in doorways from within the house leading directly into the barn. The barn would also work well as a studio for music, teaching, physical activities, arts and crafts, yoga, etc.
This beautiful cortijo has mains electricity and local mains water from the local country community, supplying completely fresh mountain water, for free, to the house. There is solar hot water at the property.
The house has a new, regulation septic tank and is sold with the DAFO certificate in process.
