A stunning, 200 year old cortijo, beautifully restored with a second guest house and 2 large containers with potentail for conversion and self sufficient in energy and water as well as mains water and mains electricity
Cortijo Las Ventanas has been both a family home and home to a local business for many years and offers plenty of space, energy and water independence, as well as scope for development.
The property could combine a self sufficient lifestyle with tourist accommodation, yoga centre, vehicle workshop, woodworking, art studios, or other similar enterprises.
Each house is on its own plot of land, but the entire estate is being sold together.
The Grounds
Access to Cortijo Las Ventanas is via a dirt track of 2.6Kms in good condition, through stunning countryside, leading to a main electric entrance gate. From here a gravel drive leads past the gates to the guest house and down to a spacious gravel parking area for several cars/camper vans, etc. The drive continues down, past the vegetable garden, past the containers, past the gate to the main house, and across the plot, dropping down to the valley and the olive grove.
The vegetable garden, located in its own, private area, consists of a large potting/gardening house and garden store, with windows over the vegetable beds, a covered outdoor potting area, and a series of vegetable beds. There is a rain water tank, collecting water via guttering, to help with irrigation.
Below, a driveway leads up to an area where two large transport containers have been sitting for many years, set in their own private area and connected to electricity, water and with their own septic tank. Here there is obvious potential for creating a self-contained unit here, perhaps for guests, helpers or tourists.
Beyond, the private track drops down a slope, with a vast amount of land with 350 productive olive trees.
Between the main house and guest house is a path leading to a large chicken shed, almost like a small house, with a fenced open chicken run.
And finally, a zigzagging path leads down to a large flat area used to store building materials at present.
There is plenty of space on this huge estate for a variety of farm animals and pets.
The Main House
A gated entrance leads into a private driveway leading to the main house, with a huge expanse of open land to the north and the house to the south. At the far end is a parking area for plenty of cars, plus a covered parking area for at least 3 large vehicles. The roof of the covered parking area is made of photovoltaic solar panels, generating plenty of electricity.
A side door, past various store rooms for the electrical equipment, leads from a small hallway into a large workshop (11 x 4m), which could be used for woodworking, general maintenance, etc. This in turn leads through to a vast space with huge garage doors (12 x 8m), with a lower vehicle inspection chamber, and so ideal for anyone who loves to work on car mechanics. It also doubles as a gym and could be used as a dance or fitness studio. Doors to the rear lead out to the pool terrace.
From the workshop, a front door leads into the kitchen (9 x 3m), fully fitted and with views from the windows over the pool terrace. From the kitchen is access to two further store rooms (6 x 3m each), which could potentially become bedrooms. The kitchen also has double doors out to the pool terrace and a door at the far end to the first of two living rooms (6 x 4m), which also has doors out to the pool terrace to one side. Beyond, double doors lead into the second living room, a beautiful space of 6 x 4m with a side door leading outside, to the main track running through the estate. At the far end of this living room is a cupboard that, when opened, leads to a completely secret room, currently used as a very private office (4 x 3m).
From the second living room is a door to the downstairs bedroom (3.5 x 3.5m) with windows on two sides, and double doors to an exquisite bathroom with a walk-in shower (around 10m2). This bathroom can also be accessed directly from the living room.
The first living room has a staircase at the far end leading to a landing on the first floor. Immediately to the right is a large bathroom (3.5 x 2.5m) with a window over the views. Ahead is a door to the master bedroom (9.5 x 4m) with two large windows over the views, air conditioning, plus an open plan ensuite bathroom (2.5 x 4m) with windows on two sides. At the far end of this bedroom is a door that leads to a flat roof which could be made into a large private terrace if required.
The pool terrace consists of a beautiful space, enclosed in a walled garden, with the sweeping, panoramic views ever present beyond. The area consists of a covered terrace, with an outdoor lounge area, recreation area (poole table) and outdoor dining area. A few steps lead down to the pool garden, with a 10 x 5m pool and outdoor bathroom.
The Guest House
Located close to the entrance to the estate, the guest house has its own gated access to a private garden area around the house. The covered terrace is covered by a roof of solar panels, offering the same self sufficiency as the main house. As this house was until recently used to house a high tech internet enterprise, the house needs some simple adapting to become a comfortable and beautiful 3 bedroom home on one level.
The front door leads into kitchen/dining area (8 x 3m) with a simple kitchen. To the right, double doors lead into a living room (5 x 5m) with windows on two sides and high ceilings. At the other end of the kitchen, a door leads into a large bathroom with a walk-in shower and plenty of cupboard units (4 x 3m), leading into a stpre room beyond, (could be a utility room) of 4 x 2m. These two rooms might also be converted into a bedroom and ensuite bathroom, with the plumbing nearby.
Also from the kitchen is a door leading into a large bedroom (5.5 x 3m) and on the other side of the kitchen another door leads into two further rooms, one with high windows, (6 x 3m and 5 x 4m).
Utilities and self sufficiency
Cortijo Las Ventanas is connected to the mains water, and collects rain water. There is a mains water tank of 30,000L, a rain water tank of 20,000L and a 10,000L rain water tank attached to the main house.
The estate also has mains electricity, but its efficient generation of energy from the solar panels permits it to be self sufficient, often storing extra electricity generated in batteries. The solar panels also heat the hot water in both houses, making this amazing complex extremely environmentally friendly. The property also has a back-up generator.
There is CCTV across the complex.
This breathtaking property offers a complete change of lifestyle, in a totally natural environment, surrounded by wonderful, open views, and potential for running one or more businesses on site.
