Description

5 bedrooms – 2 bathrooms – three floors plus basement – patio terrace – roof terrace – idyllic location in the village – 251m2 plus basement

A very beautiful, rustic village house in the centre of the village on a beautiful street, with plenty of original features – requiring some renovation/updating.

Located on a very beautiful street in the centre of this lovely, traditional village, situated just 20 minutes from the coast, Casa Pepe Santos (251m2 excluding the basement) is bursting with local history and original features.  Once a general store where the villages gathered, gossiped and chatted, the house is known by all the locals, especially of the older generation!

From the beautiful street, wide double doors lead into a large room with beams on the ceiling, 8 x 3m.  To the left, at the far end, are stairs leading up to the first floor, but also a door that leads down steps to a cellar of the same size.  Two sets of original double wooden doors lead through from this room to a rear room of around 9 x 3m with beams.  To the far left is a door into a delightful, very old fashioned kitchen (4 x 3m), also with beams and with a window to the street and doors at the rear that lead out to a small covered outdoor area (2 x 2m) with an outdoor WC, and leading on to the lower terrace (around 6 x 2.5m) with country and village views.

The stairs lead up to the first floor, and into a beautiful, large living room (around 10 x 3m) with wooden doors to two balconies overlooking the street and stunning original tiled floors in very good condition.  From this room are doors to two very large bedrooms, (5 x 4m and 6 x 4m one with a balcony) each with beautiful original tiled floors and wooden shutter windows in rustic style.

At the far end of this room, an arch leads through to what could be used as an office, with a window to the front (4 x 2m) and from here is access to the bathroom, beautifully old fashioned, in light green tiles with window to the rear (2 x 2m).

Taking the stairs again leads to the second floor where a small landing, with storage over the stairs, leads to three further bedrooms, all off a main corridor, (3 x 4m, 3 x 4m and 4 x 4m), with a more modern bathroom at the far end in white tiles (4 x 2.5m).  The bedrooms and bathroom on this floor all have high, sloping ceilings with beams and wooden windows with shutters. Also accessed from the landing is a door to the upper terrace (11 x 2m) overlooking the street.

This delightful house has a true soul.  It would work well, with a little updating and work, as a village based B&B, or even for a small business such as yoga, teaching, painting workshops, etc.
