Finca Molina is an ancient cortijo that has been partly modernised over time, but still has some of its original features such as beams and thick walls, and is in very good condition.
The plot is accessed from a concrete country road and it is walking distance from a lovely little country bar – (the mother makes some lovely food!) The plot consists of 5292m2 of land, all of it useable, planted with olive and almond trees, plus a wide variety of fruit trees including oranges, lemons, carrob, excellent quality fig, and a mini vineyard of grapevines. The soil is extremely fertile, ideal for growing vegetables.
With the plot are the main house (158m2 on two floors), a spalsh pool (internal dimensions 2m x 4m), barbecue area, and two large barns making up around 100m2. By the splash pool is a car inspection pit, but this could easily be eliminated if not required.
The main house consists of an open plan living room/kitchen with beams and an old fashioned stove in the kitchen. The kitchen may need updating depending or requirements, but is perfectly useable. To the far left is a door to a large bathroom (around 2 x 3.5m). Ahead is an opening leading to the staircase, with two large bedrooms on either side (each around 4 x 4m).
The stairs are steep, but well made and whilst it may be possible to eliminate this staircase, using the second staircase (see below), it also is part of the original character of the house. At the top of the stairs, is an upper landing area, which leads right through to the front of the house with double doors to a balony. Upstairs are four very large, light and bright bedrooms, (3 x 4m and 4 x 4m). From the balcony is a wonderful view across the mountains and the valley below, with other cortijos scattered around on the hills around. Upstairs it would not be difficult to sacrifice one bedroom to create two bathrooms (one of which could be an ensuite) although there is space to create small shower rooms in most of the rooms if the plumbing can be designed and distributed correctly.
Back downstairs, to the left of the living room, through the bathroom, is a door leading to the annexe area, still to be renovated, with a short corridor leading into a room with a fireplace and a door leading outside to the side of the house. From this room a concrete staircase (the second staircase) leads to two upstairs areas (3 x 3 and 4 x 3m). Here the roof is corrugated iron and could be raised slightly and rebuilt, to create better headroom upstairs. This area could then be used as a separate annexe with a living room/kitchen, 2 bedrooms, plus a bathroom where the current corridor is located.
Alternatively this second staircase could lead to the upstairs of the entire house, with slight alterations to the interior upstairs layout.
The barns, located opposite the house, consist of 101m2, divided into two sections. The lower barn has an upper and lower area, and the upper barn is all on one level with a door at both ends. This could be used for animals, as workshops, or converted into stables, or even possible used to create living units.
