Location
Cortijo ‘El Escondido’ is exactly what it says, ‘hidden’ away beautifully amongst the countless hidden valleys and hills of the Montes de Malaga area, surrounded by nature, untouched on the whole by humanity. There is a little hamlet of houses just a short distance away, so it is not totally isolated, with good neighbours – always a good thing to have! The area is around 1 hour north of Malaga city and the coast, 50 minutes from the seaside town of Torre del Mar, 15 minutes from the nearest bars in Los Ventorros and 20 minutes from the picturesque mountain village of Comares. This is a place for peace, contemplation, reading, walking, enjoying nature and the freedom of the great outdoors in the wonderful mountains and hills above Malaga. There is a dirt track of around 2Kms to reach the hamlet.
The house
Set on a plot of 1119m2 of land, with plenty of space to develop gardens both to the front and rear of the cortijo, a set of stone steps and a stone path lead up to the house. The front door leads into a hallway (4 x 2.5m) with a bedroom and bathroom to the right (4.5 x 3.5m in total), and another bedroom and bathroom to the left (6.5 x 3.5m in total) with lovely rustic features including beams and original stone detail from the original stone walls.
The end of the hall gives access to an inner hallway with a door to the rear patio, and a door to the left to a third bedroom (4 x 2.5m).
Stairs lead up to a large living room (around 23m2) which has newly laid quality wooden floors and wood panelled ceilings, giving a rustic, natural feel. An opening through the very thick walls leads into another room which could be a dining room, or even a fourth bedroom. And at the top of the stairs, straight ahead, is access to the third bathroom to the left (3.5 x 2m) and the kitchen (4 x 4m). The kitchen is not fitted or equipped, meaning that the new owners can choose their own kitchen according to their own tastes. It would be perfectly possible to open an archway between the kitchen and the dining room too.
