A beautiful little cortijo to restore, set on a hill with all-round, open views of the mountains, in glorious mountain countryside.  RESERVED

Situated on a hill, by a country track not far from Rubite, this gorgeous little piece of history is crying out to be restored!  Requiring complete renovation, Cortijo Mojonera could be converted into a rustic, but comfortable home with 2 bedrooms 1 (maybe 2) bathrooms, covered terrace and space for an above ground pool in front of the house that could be level with the terrace, overlooking the south facing views.

A driveway leads up to the house, with plenty of flat land immediately around the house to make into lovely gardens, with stunning, uninterrupted 360º views.  The house is from the early 20th century, bursting of rustic original character and charm with sloping ceilings and beams, and a good roof.  It has a front covered terrace (10 x 2m), a covered building at a lower level beyond for animals, now in ruins and a walled courtyard, which would make a perfect area to install an above ground pool level with the terrace.

Inside, the house is simple, consisting of one living room (5.5 x 3m) with open fireplace where the family would have done all their cooking, and next to it, an original bread oven.  It would be lovely to restore the fireplace, perhaps making one big feature to include both the fireplace and the bread oven.  To the left of the living room is another room (bedroom perhaps, 3.3 x 3m) and to the rear is another room (5 x 3.3m).  Accessed from outside and against the rear room is a store room of around 2 x 2m, which potentially could be a bathroom.

Potentially, part of the covered terrace could become a new kitchen, freeing up the two internal rooms as bedrooms.

The rest of the land meanders across the hillside, some of it very useable and some steeper, and therefore less so.  There is plenty of land to keep a few animals, grow vegetables, and plant fruit trees.  There are ancient ‘paseros’, for drying the grapes to make raisins and then raisin wine (Malaga wine) and a terrace, level with the covered porch area, overlooking the landscape.

The cortijo is located along a dirt track of around 3 Kms.  The nearest villages and towns are Viñuela (15 mins), Canillas de Aceituno (20 mins) and Vélez-Málaga (25 mins).

For anyone interested in taking on a project such as this one, we are able to help with introducing you to good local lawyers, architects and builders and can offer a management service, from working with the architect on the project, and obtaining planning permission, to overseeing the restoration work, and connection of services.
