A very well priced detached country house with plenty of original character, in a peaceful location in the mountains near Comares

This interesting country house is located in a small cluster of country houses, one, like this one, is fully renovated, and another two still to be renovated.  It has good land and very reasonable access with some dirt track in excellent condition, and the rest concrete.

Location
The property is situated around 10 minutes from the village of Comares and within about 5 minutes of the lovely little hamlet of Los Ventorros where there are two bar/restaurants and a little shop.  The countryside is peaceful and natural with plenty of lovely walks from the house.  Other nearby country towns are Colmenar and Riogordo (both 20 mins’ drive) and Malaga city is around 45/50 minutes from the property.

The House and Land
The land consists of a main plot of around 1750m2 of land which slopes very lightly uphill, but is practically flat.  There is ample space for parking and the land is planted with ancient olive trees.  There is also a section around the house that has been fenced to create a garden, excellent for anyone with dogs.  Within the garden are patio areas, flowering bushes, trees, a dog cage area, and a small dip pool (2.1 x 1.6m).

For a pool there is an excellent space, just below the main terrace, where an above ground pool could be located, such that it would be level with the terrace at one side.

To the far end of the house, accessed via a communal path that runs along one side of the property,  is a second patio area, with a fig tree and a lemon tree.  From here is access through the original wooden double doors into the living room, (7 x 3.5m) with beams and cane ceiling and a striking original fireplace, fitted with a woodburner.  The traditional moulded fireplace surround is very typical of the old cortijos in this area.  Originally the moulded plaster fireplace would have been painted in a bright colour, such as glossy green or red.

From here an arch in the thick wall leads through to the large kitchen/dining room area, (8 x 4m), a wonderful space for entertaining, with a modern kitchen, woodburner, and a door out to the garden and garden patio area.

From the living room, to the right of the double doors, there are three rustic steps leading down to a lower level and a very useful little space for hanging coats and storing shoes etc, (2.3 x 1.8m)  with a second set of double doors leading back out to the rear of the property.  Also from this lower level is a door into the downstairs bathroom with a walk-in shower and window to the side (2.3 x 1.7m).

Back in the living room, an original staircase leads to the first floor and into a short corridor with pretty wooden windows with shutters, overlooking the rear of the property.  To the right is bedroom 1, which overlooks the upstairs terrace and has a second window to the side, plus an above-stairs storage alcove (2.3 x 2.6m plus alcove).

At the end of the corridor is access to bedroom 2, (3.5 x 2.6m) with sloping ceiling and beams, leading through an archway into a dressing area (2 x 2m).  This area has clothes storage to the left and a glass door to the right leading out to a look-out terrace with lovely views (6 x 4m).  To the far end of the dressing area is access to the second bathroom with walk-in shower and pretty Andalusian style floortiles (2.5 x 2m).

A very reasonably sized detached country cortijo at a very affordable price, this is ideal for anyone seeking a new lifestyle, or just to use as a holiday home.
