The pretty hamlet of Los Hijanos is located in a lush river valley, but with good, open views, with easy access off the road that runs between the villages of Benamargosa and Riogordo.  It is 10Kms from both Riogordo and Comares, and 8Kms from Benamargosa.  There is also a nearby country bar/restaurant.  Malaga is within around 50 minutes’ drive.

The Property
Situated within the sleepy, rural hamlet of Los Hijanos, this lovely property has plenty of privacy and is not bothered by noise other than that of nature and the occasional sign of human life!  The house has two parking spaces and there is parking space elsewhere in the village too, within a very few paces of the house.  The top entrance to the house leads through a gate onto the front terrace (around 6.5 x 4m).  To one end, a few steps lead up to a doorway (lovely old wooden door) leading into a useful loft area, ideal for storage.  This area is around 4.5 x 4m, currently with a semi low, sloping ceiling, which potentially could be raised to create an additional, full height room (subject to planning consent).

From the front terrace, a door leads into the main living room area, with white painted beams, a spacious 10 x 3m, half one a lower level, and the other half one step higher.  This lovely room has a stand-alone woodburner at the far end, which keeps the room, and much of the house, very warm in the cooler months of the year.  A door to the far end on the right leads down two steps into the dining room (3 x 3m), a very pretty room, with what remains of the original kitchen fireplace on one side, and a window to the other side.  Beyond, two or three steps down leads to the current day, fully fitted kitchen (3 x 3m plus 1.5 x 1m), and a door to one side leads to a bathroom with walk-in shower (2 x 1.5m).

From the kitchen, a door leads out to the middle, walled patio area with a gate leading out to the off-street parking area.  The owners of this house did everything they could to reuse or preserve the original materials of this lovely house, and this courtyard has original tiles, formerly laid in one of the bedrooms.  Beyond this courtyard, through another gate, is access to the rear terrace and garden area (14 x 6.5m).  This terrace is fully paved, and a few steps lead down to a garden, with bushes and fencing to the rear in a semi circle.  It could be possible to situate an above ground pool such that it is level with the upper terrace area.

Back in the living room, next to the front door, are stairs leading to the upper floor (useful under-stairs space).  The stairs lead directly into bedroom 1, a very lovely room of 5 x 3m (excluding the open stairwell) with wardrobe alcove.  Beyond, a door leads into a very large bathroom (4.75 x 3m), with a full size bath as a central feature and a spacious walk-in shower.  From the bathroom, a door leads out to a roof terrace (3 x 2.5m) with lovely views South, into the valley and across to the hills beyond.  Immediately in front is the roof of the loft area.

Back in the bathroom, a side door leads up four steps into bedroom 2 (4 x 3m) with lovely views from the window over the hamlet.  From here, a second staircase leads downstairs, into a second living room, or a reading room/office, with under-stairs alcove, next to the large living room, with an opening through to the large living room.  Also accessed from the reading room is bedroom 3, a single room, size 3.25 x 2m.

This delightful property is what Spanish living is all about, and represents the perfect blend of rustic and modern that makes life comfortable, but typical and traditional.  A wonderful permantent home, or an easy to manage holiday home.
