Situated along a dirt track which is passable in an ordinary car (small 4×4 would be ideal for permanent living), Casa del Sur faces South and West, and enjoys delightful views over the rolling hills that rise up around the river valleys of Benamargosa and Velez-Malaga.  Here, the climate is perfect for growing mangos and avocados, which has become a profitable crop and offers potential for adding to one’s income, given that this property is connected to the ‘Chifle’ water irrigation system.

The village of Benamargosa, which has a large supermarket and a good selection of smaller shops, plus bars, restaurants, sports facilities, a pool and 24 hr medical centre, is only 5 minutes’ drive away, with the larger town of Velez-Malaga a 15 minute drive, and 20 minutes from Torre del Mar, on the coast.

The House
All on one level, plus steps up from the front covered terrace to a huge roof terrace, this house is 128m2 including its 30m2 covered terrace to the front, with double glass sliding doors into the living room.

The main entrance is from the side of the house into the fully fitted, spacious kitchen (4 x 3m) with a wide arch leading into the living room (5.7 x 4m) with corner woodburner, and air conditioning (hot and cold).  There is plenty of light flooding in from the glass doors and windows.  An arch to the rear of the kitchen leads to a short corridor.  To the right is a good sized utility room (could be knocked into the kitchen or have a door from the kitchen instead of the corridor) of 2.5 x 2.5m.  To the left is bedroom 1 (3.5 x 4m) which has built-in wardrobe and air conditioning.  Further along the corridor is the family bathroom, tiled in blue (2.5 x 2m), bedroom 2 (3.5 x 3m) with built in wardrobe and air conditioning, and at the far end is bedroom 3, the master bedroom (3.5 x 3.5m) with built in wardrobe, air conditioning, double glass sliding doors to an open rear terrace, and an ensuite bathroom (2 x 1.5m).

Outside, there is a useful store area under the upper terrace steps.

The Grounds
The plot is accessed via an entrance into a gravel parking area, with the garden leading immediately on from here, and the house at the far end.  The garden is currently sligthly overgrown, but has some mature plants that could once again be nurtured to their former glory – this is a paradise for any gardener looking for a small project to create a beautiful Mediterranean garden in a very mild climate on very fertile land.

The rest of the plot slopes down the hill steeply, but is perfectly accessible via steps and a little path down to the middle terrace level, and down again to the lower level, where there are good variety of fruit trees including mature avocados, orange, lemon and fig trees.  Mangos could be planted and sold for a fair profit.  All that can be heard is birdsong, and in the Spring, the beautiful sound of the nightingales.

This delightful little mini paradise is crying out for someone to love and care for it once again.  The house needs a little attention, but nothing too complicated, and the garden could be a wonderful project.
