Hidden nonchalantly at the end of a little village street this very old, restored village house offers plenty of space and light on all levels plus an exceptionally large garden for a village house.


Casa Zarza is located a couple of minutes walk away from one of the main streets in Colmenar, meaning it has excellent access into town and out of town. Although the house is on a very steep street, there is an alternative access from the top of the street thatis very easy and there is plenty of space to park a car.

The orientation of the house is excellent, meaning that plenty of light and sunlight, filters through the windows most all of the day, including the garden, where the owners say everything they plant grows exceptionally well.

The village of Colmenar has a number of shops, restaurants, bars, a doctor’s and a clinic.  It is about 35/40 mins from Mañaga and the Airport and about the same to the coast.

The garden

The garden currently has all types of plants that are thriving with ease and little care. It is a fully private garden and is not overlooked and has an amazing view of the village, all the way up to the church and hermitage beyond. There is a terrace with a storage area and a WC.

There is plenty of space to build a small pool (subject to planning permission).

The house

Entering from the street to the living room the first thing that strikes one is sense of space and light. The walls are adorned with fragments of original rock carefully preserved and the kitchen has an old-style Moorish window. There is a wood stove in the corner of the living room and right next to it the open entrance to the fully fitted kitchen with a door out to the upper terrace.

The terrace offers a lovely view of the village and looks over the garden.

Steps from the kitchen lead up to a small hallway with an airing cabinet. At the end of the hallway is the main bathroom with build-in unit with alcoves for rustice baskets. It also has a large shower unit.

To the right of the bathroom is the master bedroom with a small Andalusian balcony. This bedroom faces the same direction as the garden, South, so sunlight floods into the room from early on in the day. The space above the stairway acts as a useful storage space. Next to it is a built-in cupboard with plenty of space and little steps to store things such as shoes.

The second bedroom, directly opposite the stairs, currently has two single beds but could fit a double bed. This room also has an airing cupboard and overlooks the street. A lovely feature in this room is the ledge built into the thick wall.

Overall this property could be a wonderful house to live in permanently or  used as a holiday home, within striking distance of Malaga.
