If you are looking for a house bursting with rustic charm and original features, this little treasure is one definitely worth viewing.

Location
Situated in the mountains and overlooking a charming hidden valley where the only sounds are those of nature and the birds, Finca de la Reina is almost at the end of a dirt track (just one house beyond) within a 15 minute drive of the charming village of Canillas de Aceituno.  Canillas has plenty of little shops and a good selection of bars and restaurants, and is one of the prettiest villages in the Axarquía region.  Finca de la Reina is within half an hour’s drive of the coast at Torre del Mar.  A small van or small 4×4 is recommended for permanent living, but an ordinary car can always reach the property.

The plot
The plot consists of 2636m2 of land sloping gently down the hill.  Most the plot is useable, with other parts dropping steeply down the hillside, but there is a enough for the present owner to have created lovely cottage-style gardens, and a delightful pool terrace area, with decking, a hexagonal pool set within it, and sun bathing area.  Here it is so peaceful that one can forget completely about that busy, stressful world out there; at Finca de la Reina, it is as if it had never existed!

The house
The entire house is on one level and the layout is unusual and charming.  A green door leads from the car port, through to a covered lobby area, and beyond,  a delightful front terrace overlooking the beautiful views to the South, and to the North East, magnificent Mount Maroma.  The terrace has a covered area of around 6 x 3m with open terrace space beyond, and for anyone wishing to enclose this area, glass curtains or something similar may be possible.

To the left of the lobby, a door leads into the beautiful kitchen/diner (4 x 3.25m) with space for a kitchen table, and four-fold glass doors at the far end allowing one to take in those magificent views to the full!  The folding doors open up onto a quite delightful balony terrace with little table and chairs, standing high above the garden and view and adding a unique feature to this beautiful room.

To the left of the front terrace, a door leads into the rest of the house, consisting of an exquisite living room (5 x 3.5m) with fireplace at the far end, beams and thick walls with fascinating alcoves.  To the rear, off the living room is a smaller room (3.2 x 2.5m), ideal as a quiet reading room, and perhaps even a small third bedroom if a pull-out sofa bed is kept in this room.

To the right of the living room is a door to bedroom 1 (3 x 2m) with built-in wardrobes at the far end.  Next door, an opening leads to a very short corridor, with a door to the bathroom, store room, and bedroom 2.  The bathroom is as beautiful as every other room in this fascinating property, with thick walls and original wooden window, and it has the added advantage of a large, walk-in shower, through an Arab style arch.  Next to the bathroom is a useful store room (2 x 1.2m) and opposite is the door to bedroom 2 (2.6 x 2.25m).

This is a property of serene beauty and peace, a place for contemplation and meditation, a happy house, in a stunning mountain location, on the market for a very competitive price.
