A traditional style, rustic village house in a quiet street tucked away behind the centre of the picturesque village of Periana

Ideal as a holiday or weekend escape, this lovely house offers good internal and external space and is very private, on a quiet street just a short stroll from the pretty centre of the village.

Location

Periana is a large village, perched on the South facing slopes to the North of Lake Viñuela, and within 45 minutes of Malaga city and 30 minutes from the coast at Torre del Mar.  Famous for its peaches and with some excellent annual ‘fiestas’, this is the perfect place to discover real Spain!

The house is located on a quiet street just a short walk from the centre, where several well known bars and restaurants spreak their chairs and tables outside under the shade of huge, leafy trees.  There are plenty of shops and facilities in the village, as well as sports and medical facilities and schools.  The area is magnificent, with rocky mountains and waterfalls in the Winter, excellent walking areas, and plenty of wildlife.  The good road leads one way towards Velez-Malaga and the coast, and the other way to the A356 at Riogordo, from where it is easy to access the A45 motorway to Malaga, Granada, Antequera and beyond.

The house

The front door leads into the living room (4 x 3m) with original beams and a staircase to the far left.  Ahead, a door to the rear right leads into the current kitchen (3 x 2.25m) with a door beyond leading out to the covered and open terraces.  Next door, via a second door from the living room, is the dining room, also with a door to the outside area.  It might be possible to open out these two rooms, perhaps with a wide arch, or simply by removing the dividing wall.  This would create two large rooms, the living room, and the kitchen/dining room, with doors out to the outside area.

The outside area consists of a covered terrace area of 5 x 3m, ideal for enjoying the outside, but inthe shade, and perfect for outside dining and general living.  Beyond is the open patio courtyard area of 4 x 4m, ideal for anyone wishing to set up a private splash pool inthe Summer, or even to fill with a potted flowering garden – very Andalusian!  Steps to the far left of the courtyard lead up to the open terrace on the upper floor.  And the current owners have a thick vertical awning on a rail, to divide the covered terrace from the open courtyard.

Taking the stairs inside, from the living room, these lead to a small landing area.  To the right, a door leads into bedroom 1 (4 x 3m), with a window over the street, and a high, sloping ceiling.  Straight ahead, from the landing, is the bathroom equipped with a corner shower unit, and window to the rear.  And to the right of the bathroom is bedroom 2, (3.2 x 3m) with high sloping ceiling and a door to the rear upper terrace (4.5 x 3m).

A perfect house for anyone wishing to experience true Spanish village life in a beautiful setting, within half an hour of the coast.
