4 bedrooms – 3 bathrooms – divided into main house and casita – huge pool – 40,600m2 approximate plot size -country and sea views – in the hills near Velez-Malaga, South facing aspect

An unusual country house (around 230m2) with plenty of unique character, with a charming central patio, set on the low hills above Velez-Malaga and with lovely views out to the sea, with irrigated land with potential for an excellent income in tropical fruit tree growing.

Cortijo Diego García is located along a dirt track, deep into the countryside, and is about 15 minutes in the car to Velez-Malaga, and 20 minutes from the coast.  Its location on the sunny hills above the town means that the property enjoys the sunshine all day, with beautiful views over the sea.  There are other houses around, but not within at least 100m of the property.

The local Velez-Malaga micro climate has made this area one of the largest mango and avocado producers in Europe, with high income potential in the fertile, irrigated land in and around the valley.  This property would be ideal to develop within this growing agricultural field.

The House:
The house is mainly on one single, level, with two entrances, one from the large car park, and the other from the South wing of the house, on the pool side.  This door leads into a very large dining and living room (8.85 x 3.5m) with door to an inner living room of 4 x 3.5m.

To the right of this room is a door to a bathroom (2.2 x 4m) and next to it the kitchen (3.6 x 4m) with a kitchen store area (2.35 x 4m) off the kitchen, and from here a door to the inner courtyard patio.

The patio is a very private, serene space which could be made into a beautiful oasis in the centre of the house.  This unusual space is 56m2, part open, with a pull-over awning for keeping out the sun in the Summer and the rain in the Winter, and with an arched covered area.  From here is access the three bedrooms on ground level (7.85 x 4m, 3.5 x 4m and 3.5 x 4m).  At the far end is the second entrance or hallway, currently being used as a utility area.  It would be easy to create ensuite bathrooms and a family bathroom with a few changes to the layout of these rooms, and possibly using the kitchen store area, and/or the end entrance/hallway.

From the patio, steps lead up to a terrace (above part of the patio) and a door from here leads into a fourth bedroom or it could be an office, laundry or work room (3 x 3m).

Below the pool, accessed via steps and a pretty pathway, is the guest annexe of around 35m2 and consisting of a living/dining/bedroom area with a bathroom.  This could be used for tourist rentals, or for family and friends.

The Grounds:

In all, the plot is around 40,000m2 and has a large, flat area which houses the house and gardens, plus vegetable plot and animal/chicken coups, plus a private driveway through a gated entrance and parking area, with a small gatehouse/tool house of around 4 x 2m.

The pool, 9 x 6m, with pool-level terrace, overlooking the sea and country views.  There is a walk-in shower area and awnings to create shade on the ample terraces.

The rest of the plot drops down the hillside in wide terraces with excellent access.  It is planted with olives almonds, avocados, mangos, oranges, lemons, pomegranate, banana and mature grapevines.  The owners have also planted pine trees, as this is an area categorised as reforestation.

Amongst the trees is an interesting and very different type of accommodation, in the form of a forest hut in an arch shape, with outside bathroom, something that perhaps could be adapted, and perhaps a second such unit might be added nearby, under the tree canopy.

There is abundant natural water, from both the local irrigation community and from a private borehole.  There is an automatic irrigation  system in place and it would be ideal for anyone wishing to try their hand at the lucrative local business of tropical fruit production (mango and avocado plantations).

This property might be ideal as a retreat for small groups, perhaps for anti stress or relaxation therapy, or treatment centre.
