Zip / Town:
Montes de Malaga, (Comares)
Ref. No.:
Land or garden:

18,350m2 plot of land with open fields – 4 bedrooms – 2 bathrooms – pool – courtyards and terraces – beautiful views

A simply breathtaking country cortijo just ‘dripping’ with rustic character and features, surrounded by beautiful walled courtyards, pebble and flagstone patios, two outbuildings and a huge plot of land, perhaps perfect for a yurt business or similar or plenty of open meadows for horses.

This is what can only be described as a magical house, bursting with charm in the form of beams, flagstone floors, beautiful, huge double wooden doors, spacious rooms, the type of house you find in country property magazines!  And set in a delightful rural setting with a large plot of land that could be ideal for anyone wishing to offer space for camping, or letting yurts, or similar small tourism business and is ideal for keeping horses.

Set in the Montes de Malaga, about 15 minutes from Comares, there is a dirt track of around 1.2 Kms from the tarmac country lane, and an alternative route directly to Malaga via an 8Km very good dirt track.  The property is located about 50 to 60 minutes from Malaga city.

The house is located in a small cluster of pretty country houses, it is quiet and peaceful and totally surrounded by nature.

The House and gardens

Access is via a private driveway with parking, and then through a door through a stone wall, leading into this hidden mini paradise.  A cobblestone patio in the form of a little lane leads to the house to the left, and the main outbuilding to the right, almost like a little private street.

The outbuilding is around 4.5 x 4m (internal measurements) and is currently used for storage, but would be ideal for conversion into a studio apartment for guests.

The main house has two huge sets of wooden doors opening into the house from the patio area.  The first set lead into the spacious farmhouse kitchen, and straight out into the inner courtyard, and the second set lead into the vast dining room next door, such that in the Summer the inside of the house merges seamlessly with the outside spaces.

The kitchen is absolutely charming, with beams and beautiful floors, and plenty of worktop space, with a huge gas cooking range, a pellet stove and lovely windows.  To the right, a step down leads into the dining room, with a cast iron cooking range for heating, in addition to a pellet stove, and double doors on both sides, once again, a stunnng room.  Beyond, double doors open onto the downstairs bedroom, with an ensuite bathroom beyond.

From the dining room, one or two steps lead down to a slightly lower level living room, once again a very large and totally charming room with a pellet stove for colder Winter days and huge double glass and wood doors leading out to the courtyard beyond.  And stairs from here lead up to the upstairs open landing.  From the large landing, is access to the upstairs bathroom (a huge room with wonderful beams, as there are in every room), and two spacious bedrooms.  The third bedroom has double doors out to a large upstairs terrace, enjoying those beautiful country views (around 8 x 3m).  See floorplan in photo gallery for approximate room sizes.

The inner courtyard is divided by a wall and an archway into two parts.  The dining courtyard, closest to the kitchen, with a raised dining area and plenty of sitting areas, full of pots with flowering shrubs and flowers.  Beyond the arch is the delightful pool terrace, with an in-ground 5 x 3m pool with second smaller area, from where the water cacades into the lower pool.

The immediate gardens include pretty paths leading to different areas, plenty of lush, green foliage and palm trees and a small second outhouse currently used as a fun, extra bedroom for the current owners’ grandchildren (formerly the pig house!)

Beyond the garden the land climbs gently up the hillside, and over a little brook up to the upper fields.

The Land

Behond the house, on the upper slopes, are three lovely areas, all gently sloping but useable, laid to grassland and in the Spring, a mass of flowers and wild orchids.  This area, accessed either from the house (it would be convenient to build a little bridge over the brook) or via a track, would be ideal as a mini camping or ‘glamping’ centre for tourist, walkers or cyclists looking for a totally natural place to enjoy and bed down.  From the land, there are stunning views over the Montes de Malaga and all that can be heard are the many, multiple types of birds in this wonderful area of Malaga.

A simply breathtaking property being sold at a very accessible price.
