A simply stunning, traditional rustic country cottage near Comares, 169m2, packed with original features,  in a little rural cluster of cottages forming a tiny hamlet, in beautiful countryside just a short drive from the village SOLD subject to completion.

Located around 5Kms from the lovely village of Comares, this charming cottage is located in a small cluster of other country cottages, but is very private.  There is a communal car parking area and a short walk takes you to a few steps leading up to the wooden garden gates, into the terrace gardens.  This consists of two main areas; a smaller area to the right as one enters through the gate, used by the current owners as a potting area, storage of tools, and even a ‘cold frame’ for a few home grown veggies; and to the left, a delightful terrace area of around 30m2 (10 x 3m approx) surrounded by potted flowering plants.  Part of the terrace is covered, and here a large table and chairs offers cool shade in the heat of Summer and is perfect for al fresco dining!

There are two sets of double wooden doors leading off the terrace into the house.  The first, and main entrance, leads straight into the kitchen, the other into the living room.

The fully fitted kitchen (3.7 x 3m) is a lovely, spacious area to cook and to eat in, conveniently near the outdoor dining table too, and it has a dishwasher and washing machine.  Just out on the covered terrace is a further cupboard housing a clothes dryer and a second fridge.

To the right of the kitchen, an opening in the very thick wall leads into a beautiful dining room (3.75 x 3.5m) with beams and pretty cottage windows, and a delightful French woodburner in the far corner.  To the left of the kitchen, a similar opening leads into the very spacious L-shaped living room (5.7 x 3.75, with a further 2.7 x 3.25m).  Here a magnificent traditional Axarquia style country fireplace, no doubt once painted in bright colours, takes pride of place and is in excellent condition.  Within it, a second woodburner for those cosy Winter evenings.  There are once again, a magnificent display of original beams and sloping ceilings, plus pretty cottage windows, and the patio doors out to the terrace.

From both the far end of the dining room and that of the living room is a staircase leading to the upper floor.

From the dining room end, the very attractive staircase, with windows letting in plenty of light, leads to the corridor on the upper floor.  First door on the left is the guest bedroom, a very pretty double room (3.5 x 3.85m) with original painted woodwork, beams and lovely window.  A little way along, on the right, double doors lead to an outdoor corridor balcony along the back of the house and around to the side, offering magnificent views of the valley, down towards the coast.

Next left is a very unique bathroom, with sloping beamed ceilings and painted cupboards and details, giving an air of calm and relaxation which is felt across this whole house!  The bathroom is a generous 3.7 x 3m and has both a bath and a shower unit.  At the far end, another pretty, painted door leads us through to the master bedroom.  The master bedroom is 6 x 3m and at the opposite end, double doors lead into a third bedroom, used by the current owners as a private TV room, or mini home cinema!  At the far end of this lovely bedroom is the other set of stairs, leading us back down into the living room.

On the garden terrace is a spiral staircase leading up to a sun terrace (around 3 x 3m), commonly refered to by the current owners’ children as “the beach”!   The views here too are magnificent and inspiring.

This quite special house is ideal for anyone looking for a peaceful life here in a home bursting with original features, within  a local, and very friendly Spanish neighbourhood.  There is no dirt track to reach this property, just a very pretty country lane, around 2.5kms from the main road to Comares and 5Kms from the village itself.  Vélez-Málaga town is around 25 minutes drive and the coast around half an hour.  Málaga city and airport is within one hour’s drive.

Other features:
– small 300m plot next door, ideal for vegetables
– for heating here are two traditional woodburners plus electric heaters or radiators in most rooms
– there is no air conditioning, but it would be easy to fit, but is not generally needed in these very old houses due to the half-metre thick walls
– Council tax (IBI) around 370 Euros per annum
– Paperwork in order
