An extremely beautiful country house simply oozing with character features and charm in stunning countryside close to Los Romanes village
If you are looking for the idyllic Southern European country house but think what you are looking for probably only exists in your imagination, think again. There is no need for rose-tinted glasses, because Finca Loma Leon is totally magical!
Located along a short track (a little rough at times, but not steep and no frightening sheer drops, etc) this lovely property is hidden in an oasis of trees and exotic foliage. A gated entrance leads into an ample gravel parking area for several cars, with tall, flowering bushes making it very private. From here there is access directly to the garden and pool terrace, or via shallow stone-paved steps to the front terraces.
There are two front terraces, both spacious and comfortable, the most perfect place for almost all-year-round outdoor living. The main (lounge) terrace is covered and is an area of 3.5 x 5m, currently furnished with comfortable, quality outdoor garden furniture. Beyond, at a very slightly higher level is the upper terrace, with grapevines forming a natural covering in Summer. The paving, a mixture of marble and ceramic tiles forming a circular pattern like the rays of the sun, is particularly attractive and this terrace is used for outdoor dining, with a barbeque area at the far end. The bright pink bourganvillea mixes with the bright green of the vines in Summer, creating pretty dappled shade.
From the lower terrace, the front door leads into a central hallway (4 x 3.25m). Straight ahead is a beautiful shower room, a spacious, luxury bathroom of 3.25 x 3m and is reminiscent of a bygone age. To the left of the hall, 5 steps lead up to the dining room (6.5 x 3m) which has double doors out to the upper terrace and an unusual, brick decorated corner woodburner for cosy Winter evenings. This is a truly lovely room to entertain in and is open plan in an L shape with the kitchen. The farmhouse style kitchen (3.5 x 3m) is fully fitted and, like the dining room and many rooms in this house, has a beamed ceiling.
From the dining room is a door to the downstairs bedroom (3.5 x 3m).
To the rear right of the hall, an arch leads to a lobby area of 3 x 1m. To the left of the lobby is a cupboard where the current owners keep a freezer. To the left, far end, is a utility and laundry room (1.5 x 1.5m). And ahead are double doors and 3 steps down into a stunning living room, with huge double doors leading back out to the lower terrace. This delightful room is 6 x 4.5m with a brick decorated woodburner fireplace at one end. The room has beams and interesting alcoves in the thick walls.
From the hall, to the near side left are steps leading up to the upper floor, and a landing of 2 x 1m. To the left is bedroom 2, which is 4 x 3m excluding the wardrobe area and an additional storage area set in a large alcove, cleverly hiding the air conditioning unit. Ahead is bedroom 2, (5 x 3m) with three steps down into a very lovely ensuite shower room (2.5 x 3m) with corner shower, equally as attractive as the downstairs bathroom. There is a door out from the shower room leading to a private terrace area in an L shape, as it wraps around one corner of the house (4 x 2m plus 3 x 1.5m).
Outside, a few steps from the lower lounge terrace leads past tropical plants to the pool terrace and sunbathing area. The pretty pool is 5 x 3m and there is a covered area to escape from the sun as well as open terrace areas, and the whole area is surrounded by gardens. Below the gardens is further land which could be used to extend the gardens, grow fruit trees, or vegetables. However, there is pleny more land, on the other side of the track, that is practically flat and could be used for horses, or any type of animal, for planting a crop, establishing vineyards, etc. It has mature olive and pomegranate trees at present.
This is not an ordinary house, it is quite extraordinary, and must be seen to appreciate it fully.
