A beautiful, rustic style original cortijo in a good, habitable condition, that with a little extra improvement could be made into a very comfortable, stunning country house – just a 15 minute drive from the beach!

This is a most attractive original country cortijo with plenty of land planted with fruit trees, very private, good access, and with lovely sea views.

Located on a quiet, sunny hillside facing South, the cortijo is reached via a short track, off the main track in excellent condition all year round.  In total there is around 1.6 Kms of good, smooth track, and the nearest bar is a 15 to 20 minute walk, the nearest village, Iznate, just 2.5Kms away.

To the track side of the property is a car parking area, with space for several cars, and access to a utility room/laundry to one side. A door from here leads into the kitchen, and a path around the side, lined with tall palm trees, takes us to the South side, with a very beautiful, large covered terrace with sea views, stretching the entire length of the house.  This terrace is covered with grapevines, giving natural shade right across in Summer, delicious grapes in late Summer and early Autumn, and, as the vines lose their leaves in Winter, excellent sunlight and sunshine in Winter.

The name Cortijo Pampo Obo has a story behind it.  The family that have always owned this house had little ones who used to call the house “Grandad’s Country” but in their own childish words “Pampo” meaning countryside and “Obo” meaning abuelo, or grandad, and the name stuck and the house has been called by this name ever since!

The original front wooden double doors from here lead into the main living room, (32m2), with so many beautiful old features including beams (throughout), alcoves and built-in original glass doored shelving in the alcoves.  This house has been loved and looked after by one Spanish family since it was built around 30 years ago and many a family gathering has been held, and the room as it is at the moment reflects this family feel!  There is a large fireplace at one end of the room and a dining area at the other.  To the left is bedroom 1, (15m2) with a window to the front overlooking the terrace.  And from the rear of the living room a wide opening leads to a short corridor.  To the left is the farmhouse style kitchen, (14m2) with plenty of space for a kitchen table and chairs and a door to the rear leading to the car park area and to the outside access to the utility room/garage.  Next to this is the bathroom (5m2), and at the far right hand end, bedroom 2 (11m2) with window to the side terrace.  Between the bathroom and bedroom 2, stairs lead up to the upper floor.

Upstairs leads straight into a large landing (11m2) with window with a sea view.  To either side are doors leading into bedroom 3 (11m2) and bedroom 4 (15.5m2).  Bedroom 4 is big enough to easily incorporate an ensuite bathroom, should this be preferred by any future buyer, and as this is over the kitchen, plumbing and waste pipes would not be a problem.

Outside, beyond the front terrace is a side terrace which is used as an outside kitchen and barbecue area, with an original bread oven.  This is a lovely shady area and ideal for escaping from the hot sun in Summer.  And beyond is an area used as a kitchen garden (vegetables growing) with chicken and rabbit runs beyond.  Beyond the front terrace is the 80,000L water deposit and this would be an ideal place to locate a pool, which would be flush with the terrace.  As there is already a structure here with water in it, it may be much easier than most places to install a pool.

The land is very beautiful, with a track leading down past the side of the house to the very large flat area below the house level, fully planted with a productive, mixed fruit tree orchard.  Fruits include papaya, avocado, mango, lemon, mandarin, pomegranite, guayaba, custard apple, fig and almonds.  There is also an olive grove of neatly lined-up productive olive trees, and beyond, on a lower level, is more land.  The gardens have flowering plants, and several beautiful mature palm trees.  This wonderful plot comes complete with a plentiful supply of its own natural water for irrigation, in addition to mains water for domestic use.

This is a very lovely, true Spanish cortijo, totally habitable and ready to enjoy as it is, or ideal for anyone who fancies having a small project and plenty to do to improve the property both inside and out.  For a newly retired couple or family looking for more of ‘the good life’ it would make an ideal home too – here, one can truly live the Spanish dream!
