A very pretty, fully renovated house divided into two separate living units, (121m2 in all) with beautiful terraces and views, and a delightful plot of around 5,000m2 with mains and well water – walking distance to Arenas village

Once run as a B&B, this delightful house on two individual floors, is ideal for a couple who do not need a huge house, but would also like to have a self catering unit to let.  Located right by the side of a country road with only limited traffic, it has excellent access and is easily visible to attract passing business.

There is a concrete drive leading off the road down to the lower parking area and access to the downstairs accommodation.  But at the top, with roadside parking, is a large covered terrace with double doors leading into the living room of the upper house.  This room is used mainly as the kitchen/diner and is 5 x 3.2m, with double doors leading from the rear of this room into what was once an open terrace, but which has since been closed in with sliding double glazed windows to create a comfortable living room with beautiful views over the hills leading down to the river below.  This room is 4.5 x 3m.  There is air conditioning.

Accessed from the kitchen/dining area is a small distribution area leading to the shower room, with shower cubicle, WC and wash basin, and next door a useful store and laundry room.  This area (distribution area, bathroom and utility room) is around 3 x 3.5m.

From outside, to one side of the house is the concrete drive down, and to the other is a set of steps leading firstly to an outbuilding holding a 1,500L water deposit, and then down to the land, and the terraces of the lower house.

The lower house has an open paved terrace area of around 10 x 2m plus rectangular, pergola covered area of 4 x 2m.  3 steps up lead to the delightful covered terrace area, which, for much of the year, serves as the outdoor living room!  This lovely area is around 8 x 3m with built-in seating scattered with cosy cushions, and a dining area and lovely views over the river valley.

From the covered terrace, large double wooden doors lead into the main room, with kitchen in one corner, dining area, and living area.  This lovely, character room is around 5 x 4m with air conditioning unit.  To the right of this area is a door to the first bedroom, 4 x 3m.  And to the rear of the living area, a wide opening and two shallow steps leads up to a pretty landing area and short corridor, with a useful store cupboard and fitted bookshelves, making a very nice reading area (around 3 x 2m).  To the left of this area is another bedroom, 3 x 2m, and at the other end is the shower room, 1.8 x 1.8m.

Outside is a very large flat area of garden which could be further cultivated.  And from here, many little paths lead all across the land, which slopes down the hill to the trickling river below, making all of the land accessible.  Along the way we find many types of tree including walnuts, orange and lemon, almond, olive, avocado, mango, mimosa, plum, apple, pomegranate and many more.  There is also a small outbuilding which doubles as a fun children’s bedroom, complete with double mattress!

This lovely plot is a haven for birds, with birdsong resounding everywhere, as we stroll across the land.  In the Springtime wild flowers burst into bloom along with aromatic wild herbs, and the nightingales compete with their varied and mesmerising chants!

The village of Arenas is a 10 minute walk from the house, offering a small variety of shops and a number of very good bar/restaurants, plus doctor and sports facilities and public swimming pool. The historic, large town of Velez-Malaga, with a population of over 50,000, is only 15 minutes’ drive away and the coast, at Torre del Mar, just 5 minutes beyond.

For anyone wishing to add a pool, we advise the addition of an above ground pool, which with the sloping land around this area, works well, with one end flush with the ground and the other raised.
